Now my server is up and running (still not on the net though) I feel confident that I can say “I’m very impressed with gentoo”. One very cool feature is java-config. See the gentoo linux java guide for more information. It makes it really easy to use multiple JVMs, use jikes for compiling, update classpaths etc.
Unfortunatly the jboss ebuild is in need of a little love. I’ve got a preliminary version updated to run with 3.0.4, however I’m still getting a handle on the specfics of the ebuild process.
Gentoo is already a very handy distribution for people who want to do java development on linux.
